A revolution in the converting of film and lightweight paper

The RQS-V sheeter was initially developed for the requirements of the printing industry. This high-performance sheeter RQS-V combines a precise cross cutting unit with the revolutionary «Air-Stream» transport system. The unique "Air-Stream" technology safely transports sheets onto the stack. The handling of the material by means of airflow, with no mechanical contact, is ideal for sensitive surfaces. 

Cut-off lengths are steplessly variable. Regardless of whether single web thin printing paper starting from 40 g/m2 or plastic films of 50 μm is handled - the RQS-V sheeter is the ideal and efficient sheeter for small batches, quick order changes and sensitive or sophisticated materials. 

If installed inline, the sheeting process does not limit the printing press as the sheeter operates at up to 400 m/min. 

Features of the RQS-V Variable Rotary Sheeter

With speeds of 400 m/min., the Questec RQS-V is the world’s fastest variable rotary sheeter. It cuts lightweight paper, plastic film, beer labels and more at stepless variable cut-off lengths. The sheeter can transport and cut single-layer thin printing papers starting from 40 gsm. For statically charged plastic film, transportation can start from 80 µm at a cut-off length of 400 mm - 1.050 mm. This high-performance sheeter offers maximum flexibility, competitive technology, and high speeds. The sheeter can be standalone or integrated into a web-fed press. 

A stand-alone RQS-V Rotary Sheeter for Paper Converters

Our RQS-V variable rotary sheeter from Questec efficiently and flexibly converts various substrates for growing markets. Questec’s crosscutting technology and its revolutionary, fast and safe air transport system is ideal for standard and extremely light films and paper alike. As a standalone sheeter, it is ideal for specialty paper mills and converters or as plastic film cutting machine for plastic film converters. It is ideal for small batches and quick order changes and handles various lightweight paper and film grades, at high speeds and accuracy.

RQS-V Sheeter Inline with Printing Press

The inline configuration of the sheeter produces printed sheets at full press speed at single pass. The RQS-V can be integrated into any web-fed press - offset, gravure, flexographic or digital. Its production speed of 400 m/min. (1,300 ft/min.) combines the full speed advantage of a variable repeat web-fed press with size flexibility. It also eliminates speed reductions, intermediate handling and waste. Further finishing steps, like embossing or perforating, can be integrated with the sheeter.

The Unique "Air-Stream" Air Transport System

In conventional cross cutters the web is pushed from the draw system into the cross cutting unit. Air turbulences in front and behind the rotating cross-cutting drum then cause disturbances in the product flow. Tapes and belts take time to set up, can cause sheet marking and are prone to wear.

Our «Air-Stream» system moves sheets without upper and lower transport belts. With the Questec technology, the closely arranged air strips safely transport each sheet through the sheeter, ensuring control of the sheet at all time until it is placed on the stack. A completely new way - the sheets are effectively «pulled». Edges and corners cannot turn up, there are no wrinkles. The entire guiding of the web becomes much less sensitive to changes in web curvature. No mechanical contact, no markings - precisely cut and perfectly stacked sheets. The surface-friendly «Air-Stream» technology offers significant advantages in converting equally normal and very light materials as well as high-quality coated films or sophisticated printed paper webs.
